JENNY MITCHELL 'LET ME BE'

INTRODUCING JENNY MITCHELL
**New single, ‘Let Me Be’
**2017 New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards Overall Winner

Jenny Mitchell might not be a name you’re familiar with so let’s remedy that right now. Jenny was raised in the southern town of Gore - New Zealand’s home of country music. The Folk/Alt Country singer-songwriter grew up immersed in the music of Dolly Parton, The Dixie Chicks, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash.

At just 14, the singer placed third in the 2013 season of New Zealand’s Got Talent and ever since has performed right across her homeland in addition to regular visits to the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

2015 marked the release of Jenny’s debut album “The Old Oak” which debuted at No.1 on the New Zealand iTunes Top Music Albums chart and No.3 on the Official NZ Music Chart. While Jenny was initially influenced by her dad’s favourite country music artists, the 18 year old now includes Gillian Welch, The Lumineers, Miranda Lambert and Norah Jones as strong inspirations on her original work. While Shane Nicholson, Fanny Lumsden, Harry Hookey and The McClymonts have given her a strong love for the Australian country music scene.

On June 4th, 2017 Jenny’s long-time dream of winning the prestigious New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards came true when she was named the Overall Winner – her first year in the Senior Section. Taking out the title with an original song ‘So Far’, the $15,000 industry-focused prize pack included an Australian country music radio single release with KrisKat Publicity. The single ‘Let Me Be’ recorded with Nashville-based musician/producer Jay Tooke (Jody Direen) is the perfect summer feel good tune and like all of Jenny’s music is based on real life. The track affectionately tells the story of her parents’ relationship.

‘Let Me Be’ highlights the importance of enjoying the small things in life - such as honey on toast and a glass of wine at the end of a big day. I feel that I have grown a lot as a songwriter since my last record and I can’t wait to get my new batch of songs out there. This single is the first taste of the style I’ve worked hard to create and I can’t wait for my audience to hear it”, Jenny Mitchell.

‘SHOTGUN’ LIAM BREW

Just in time for the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Liam Brew is back with brand new single, ‘Shotgun’.
Produced by Tamworth’s Rusty Crook, this latest musical offering is the ultimate summer party anthem. Infectious and catchy 'Shotgun' is fast becoming a live favourite amongst fans.
When the Sunshine Coast resident last released new tunes (2013’s “Faster”) he had been focused on music for the better part of a decade. Liam was named 2009 Toyota Star Maker at just 18 years old and released his debut album “Wild Heart” later that same year.
The time in between releases didn’t exclude music completely, Liam has been performing at major festivals and touring locally and interstate whilst returning to the family business. While laying synthetic grass isn’t Liam’s first choice at making a living, he realised stepping back has allowed him to find out who he is as a man and in turn as an artist.
“I think I’ve discovered my true sound as an artist and I didn’t want to rush releasing new music. I want to make an impact”, Liam Brew.
While 2018 has just begun, stacks of new music is planned with a full EP by the close of the year. The live music front is jam-packed too, Liam has been confirmed to perform at some of Australian country music’s biggest concerts – announcements coming soon. But those heading to the Tamworth Country Music Festival won’t have to wait, Liam kicks off his week-long residency at Moonshiners Honky Tonk Bar (next door to The Family Hotel, Bridge St) this Friday night @ 9pm – other performances include Toyota Fanzone Thursday January 25th @ 4.30pm and Toyota Stars Under The Stars Friday January 27th @ 7pm, in the park.
‘Shotgun’ will be available at all digital stores & streaming services on Australia Day

Emily Markham

Emily Markham - Got Me Fallin.mp3

EMILY MARKHAM 'GOT ME FALLIN'

‘Got Me Fallin’ the latest single from NSW South Coast artist Emily Markham is a self-penned track which is all about the beginning of a relationship. The single explores that time when you’re starting to develop feelings for someone but don’t want to have your heart broken, if it doesn’t work out. This is one of only a few love songs Emily has written. Emily believes, “This track is fun and a little flirty; I think people will be able to relate. It’s about that moment where everything stands still and you begin to think this could really be something special.”

‘Got Me Fallin’ follows ‘Collision’ to radio, another track to be found on Emily’s 2014 debut EP “Come On Over”, produced by Matt Fell. Since the release of ‘Collision’ in July, Emily has been promoting her music while performing locally every weekend. One of the highlights was opening the show for Amber Lawrence and Travis Collins on the “Our Backyard Tour” in Goulburn and Merimbula NSW.

The singer/songwriter, as well as an accomplished guitarist and keyboardist has recently completed a university degree and is now a fully qualified primary school teacher. Emily is currently working on new material which will be released in early 2018 and has entered the Toyota Star Maker competition which is held each January during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Kylie Ryan

Kylie Ryan - Slow Me Down.mp3

KYLIE RYAN SLOW ME DOWN

‘Slow Me Down’ the new single from Kylie Ryan likens the Western Sydney singer-songwriter to a storm. According to her husband, Kylie can be like the extreme weather condition; when it’s brewing it’s a bit of a mess and collecting the bits and pieces of energy and matter that it needs to really build up steam but once it has a direction and the right elements there’s no stopping it until its run its course.

Following on from debut single ‘Got Me In’, this track is the second from Kylie’s debut EP “Dream Chaser” to be released in November. Kylie remembers penning the track one hot summer afternoon on the way home from vocal lessons when there was a big storm brewing, “I actually had to find a side street to pull into, so I could record it on my phone, my phone is full of lyrics, melody ideas, bits and pieces that just come to me at random times.”

The road to releasing original music hasn’t been easy. Following years in cover bands Kylie lacked the confidence to begin her career but it was some brutally honest words from her husband that helped her take the first step. After the mum of two and stepmother of three grown kids, didn’t get the gig with a new rock cover band her husband reminded Kylie about her dreams. With aspirations of one day performing in Tamworth and Nashville Kylie realised it was time to give it a shot. A promise to her uncle (who she credits for introducing her to country music) just before he recently lost his battle to Leukaemia gave her the final push.

The first big step in recording Kylie’s new music was a Google search on music production and the subsequent meeting with Stewart Peters of Soundshed. As Kylie has only recently started acoustic guitar lessons, she was unsure of how to go about recording a demo of her original music – this is where meeting Stewart was a real turning point. After the confrontation of recording only her vocals for the first two singles on her phone and sending them off to her producer, Kylie loved every minute of creating “Dream Chaser”. With excitement Kylie tells us, “I can’t believe this is finally happening, I will give it everything I have and I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

Vanessa Delaine

Vanessa Delaine - Rainy Day.mp3

VANESSA DELAINE

Vanessa Delaine 'Rainy Day'

‘Rainy Day’ is the latest single from New Zealand/Australian singer-songwriter Vanessa Delaine. The track was penned by Vanessa on a scorching hot day when she was craving a bit of reprieve from the harsh Australian summer.

‘Rainy Day’ is the first single from the upcoming album “Wild & Free” produced by Michael Carpenter (Adam Brand, McAlister Kemp, Bob Corbett) of Sydney’s LoveHz Studios.

Born in New Zealand, to Australian parents, having lived most of her childhood in a small country town Darfield, on the outskirts of Christchurch. Then living in Hastings for three years before moving to Sydney when she was 16 years old. She says ‘Even though I have lived in Sydney for 10 years, Auckland for 10 years and Melbourne for 5 years, moving to Wodonga VIC 6 years ago was when I realised, I am Country at Heart’ and she has become a legal Aussie in recent times.

Growing up with a musician father Vanessa was always around music. ‘It was a natural thing for me to sing and play guitar and write songs’ she says. Vanessa had some lessons during school on guitar, piano, violin and vocals and she also enjoyed being part of the choir, every school musical throughout her schooling life, and could be found performing at local Country Music Clubs every week and regularly getting up to sing with her Dad. By the age of 16 Vanessa was singing in pubs and was part of a small regional NSW tour with her Dad.

She really enjoyed playing in the local music scene in Sydney her early 20’s until a car accident resulting in a back injury at 24 briefly stalled her music career but with music as her motivation Vanessa was in the recording studio nine months later recording her debut EP “One Girl Band”. The EP features two tracks written by Vanessa’s father, who died suddenly a week after they were recorded. One of the EP tracks, ‘While The Music Plays’ was written when Vanessa returned from the funeral in Christchurch New Zealand. This track was the first single from the EP & launched at 1996 Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The 1996 Tamworth Country Music Festival saw Vanessa come in the Top 5 for Female Vocal in Capital Country National Talent Quest where she the only entrant to perform an original song and finalist at The Tamworth Services Club. 'While The Music Plays’ was a finalist in The International Black Opal Song-writing Competition. Her EP "One Girl Band" went on to win six song-writing awards from Music Festivals around Australasia including; NZ Gold Guitar Awards, Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards and Bundaberg Country Music Festival.

Feeling buoyed by the success of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Vanessa went on to do a ‘Certificate Of Contemporary Music Performance’ which covered performing and writing songs in Country, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Folk, Reggae and Funk genres and performed regularly in the Auckland music scene for quite a few years following this.

Vanessa took a seven-year break, got married and had children. Vanessa credits her 40th birthday party for her return to music. Accompanied by her guitarist-neighbour she performed for her party guests and received countless compliments.

2015 saw Vanessa release “Runaway” her first album – which was originally an EP till the producer offered to include extra tracks at no cost. The additional tracks came from an old DAT tape from her recording days in Sydney and a master CD with unreleased tracks recorded in New Zealand. The album was successful on iTunes charts in the USA, France and the Netherlands. A number of album tracks were winners at the 2017 Akademia Music Awards, where excellence in music is recognised throughout the world. Awards included Best Country Song - 'Runaway', Best Country-Blues Song - 'Long Gone' and Best Blues Song - 'Moon Blues'.

Vanessa has performed at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Yackandandah Folk Festival, Scorcher Festivals in both Perth and Adelaide, toured in Canberra, South Australia and all over NSW and Victoria with more concerts planned following the release of her new single, ‘Rainy Day’.

Emily Markham

Emily Markham - Collision.mp3

EMILY MARKHAM 'COLLISION'

‘Collision’ the new single from Emily Markham was co-written with Kelsey Strasek-Barker and Nathaniel O’Brien at the 2014 Academy Of Country Music. Created during a group session, the title came from a newspaper headline and all three songwriters imagined revenge as the key theme.
For Emily who had never written a song like that, she remembers feeling nervous but also excited as the words spilled onto the page, 45 minutes later ‘Collison’ was born. The trio also performed the track live at the graduation concert. ‘Collision’ appears on Emily’s 2014 debut EP, “Come On Over” produced by Matt Fell.
For Emily personally, ‘Collision’ made her spread her wings as a songwriter, and led to writing more songs with that same attitude and expression. Emily says, “I am so proud of this single, the road leading up to this point, and everything ‘Collision’ has given so far.”
Emily is a singer-songwriter, as well being accomplished in the guitar and keyboard. Beginning singing lessons at the age of 7, Emily’s passion for all things music began to grow. Picking up the guitar at the age of 12 allowed Emily’s songwriting abilities to flourish and with the addition of the keyboard to her list of talents, she has been able to grow into the music she now performs and writes.
The NSW South Coast resident, also graduated from the Academy Of Country Music Junior Course in 2011. After the Academy Emily performed at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre, at the request of Amber Lawrence, for the Special Olympics Variety Dinner.
In 2012 Emily took out the todayscountry94one Brand New Star competition on the NSW Central Coast. The prize package lead Emily back to the Academy Of Country Music after receiving a scholarship to attend the highly acclaimed Senior Course in 2014.
2016 saw Emily make it through to the battle rounds on The Voice Australia Season 5 followed by a working holiday to Nashville USA, where she wrote with some incredible songwriters. This material will be featured on Emily’s new EP scheduled for release in 2018.

Kylie Ryan

Kylie Ryan - Got Me In.mp3

KYLIE RYAN 'GOT ME IN'

Kylie Ryan was born in Inverell NSW, has lived in Wagga Wagga NSW, Chiang Mai Thailand & now resides in Western Sydney. Kylie remembers from a very young age being distinctly drawn to her parents' and aunt/uncles’ LP collections full of Queen, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, John Denver, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. However, she credits her uncle with establishing her love of country music.

It is this musical influence that now reflects Kylie’s own brand of country music – she was introduced to music when there weren’t as many genres or classifications, good music was good music. Nowadays Kylie also enjoys listening to several of the big names currently topping the US charts including Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line and Lady Antebellum as well as home grown Aussie artists The McClymonts, McAlister Kemp, Amber Lawrence and Adam Brand.

The singer-songwriter put her dreams of a professional country music career on hold after falling pregnant at a young age and decided that the life of a performer was not ideal as a single mum. Now a wife, mother of two and stepmother of three grown kids, completed studies in music theory performance from WSI Entertainment (Western Sydney TAFE) plus experience fronting bands and as a solo performer, Kylie is ready for her music career.

‘Got Me In’ is Kylie’s debut single, the first from her upcoming EP “Dream Chaser” (to be released later this year) and is 100% self-penned. Kylie can attest to the fact that inspiration can strike anywhere after writing the majority of this track in the shower! With the opening line, “You hit me like warm water on ice cold skin”, it all makes sense. The song explores the feelings and thoughts we have at the beginning of a new relationship, while we enjoy that feeling, as we get older and have had our hearts broken a few times, we also know there’s a chance that it might not last.

KRISTY JAMES ‘PUSH’

‘Push’ the new single from Kristy James is all about taking chances – whether it be life, work, or in this case love, the message of the song says sometimes we just need that extra help. Live, love and dream and remember sometimes it takes a little ‘push’.

“Sometimes we need a little convincing, wake up the heart and get it to listen”,

Kristy James – Push – March 2017

The paired music video was created by long-time visual collaborator Glenn Wilson of Polydivision and incorporates a part of Kristy’s background that she has kept quiet until now. Kristy reveals, “In another life I spent a lot of time dancing; from the moment I saw Dirty Dancing I knew I had to be able to do it”. However after having such a long break from dancing, it was a decision Kristy had pondered for the previous four film clips but decided against it. With ‘Push’ Kristy decided to share this side of her and it proved to be a real test of her skill, confidence and fitness. Deciding to share with her audience a part of what she calls her ‘past life’, has helped Kristy to take this video to a new level. The music video can be viewed HERE

(PLEASE NOTE THE VIDEO CLIP IS UNLISTED ON YOUTUBE TILL ITS PREMIERE AT 9PM WED NIGHT – WE WOULD APPRECIATE NO SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING UNTIL THEN)

Kristy has been singing & performing since she was a little girl, winning her first quest ‘The Junior Junior Vocal’ at Newcastle’s Steel City Country Music Club, by the time she was just 11 years old. Last year the singing teacher by day took her live shows around NSW and for the first time QLD. Whilst on holidays in Los Angeles she was a special guest of ‘Lunch With Dan Boul’ – the president of 65amps (handmade premium guitar amplifiers designed with professionals and enthusiasts in mind. 65amps are now the standard by which modern amps are now judged).

2016 also saw the release of two singles, ‘All Alone’ and ‘Friends Like You’ that both peaked at #2 on the iTunes Top Songs chart (thwarted only by Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood), being named a Top 5 finalist in the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards (country category) and music video ‘All Alone’ hitting the CMC Top 50 chart.

To cap off a stellar year, Kristy was announced as winner of the country section at the 2016 Australian Songwriters Association Awards – the country’s largest and longest running competition (over 30 years!). On the night Kristy was also awarded PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia) Best Live Performance Award, as voted by her peers. The country-rock performer is preparing for a first-time trip to Nashville for some long-planned writing for her 2nd EP due for release in August 2017.

INNOCENT EVE ‘SISTERS’

‘Sisters’ is the new single from Rachel and Bec Olsson, sister act Innocent Eve. The second single taken from the November 2016 EP “True North” is written about the three Olsson sisters; Bec, Rachel and Catherine who share a strong bond and who were all once in a covers band together. Although quite different in looks, personality and situation, they all share blue eyes and a determination to always have each other’s back, no matter what!

Reminiscent of legendary sister acts The Dixie Chicks and Wilson Phillips, Rachel and Bec have a growing reputation for their engaging live performances. Together they perform perfect harmonies as only sisters can.

Innocent Eve had a stellar 2016, performing on main-stages right across Australia at major festivals such as Urban Country Music Festival, Broadbeach Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival and the inaugural Glenmaggie Country Rock Festival.

Five time Cruisin’ Country regulars and already booked to play on Cruisin’ Country 7 later this year, as well as the Airlie Beach Music Festival in November. Innocent Eve has achieved radio and chart success with all singles from their debut album Temporary Balms (released in 2015 by ARIA award-charting producer Joel Black). ‘A Little Bit’, ‘Into The Light’, ‘Every Woman’, ‘Let Me Be’ and ‘And We Sang’ all featured on the KIX Country Network – All Australian Top 20, the Country Tracks Top 40 and the Country Music Channel Top 50.

“True North” produced by multiple Golden Guitar and ARIA award-winning Matt Fell features six new songs all penned by the sister duo. First single, ‘Belly Glow’ is about feeling emotionally numb & wanting to feel the fire burning in your soul. It describes a deep yearning to feel something, anything.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of “True North” HERE

“Since embarking on our Innocent Eve journey almost three years ago, we’ve often felt unsure of where we fitted musically. The True North metaphor shone through for us when we were making this EP. The roots of it show that over a long distance, if a traveller were to follow Magnetic North on a compass they would likely end up well off course from their destination, but by following True North, the traveller will always reach their intended destination. We feel like we’ve tapped into our own True North while making this EP & we will follow it now to wherever it leads”, Rachel & Bec aka Innocent Eve said.

Innocent Eve have “True North” EP tour dates scheduled for Central QLD, Brisbane, the Latrobe Valley and Airlie Beach in the coming months.

TONY COOK – LAIDBACK COUNTRY

‘Laidback Country’ the new single from Tony Cook is a dedication to his beloved hometown of Charters Towers, Queensland and its “laidback culture”. Produced by Simon Johnson of Hillbilly Hut, the track features legendary Australian guitarist Phil Emmanuel on a lead guitar solo.

The single has been given the video treatment by The Filmery and features Federal/State MPs Bob Katter and Shane Knuth – check it out on YOUTUBE

‘Laidback Country’ is the first single and title track from the singer-songwriter’s debut album, to be released in mid-2017. The debut EP “Laidback Tones” was released a little over 7 years ago and in that break, Tony took the time to get married, start a family and while he generally got busy with life, he never stopped writing songs.

Tony fondly recalls some of the characters that would frequent his parents’ hotel in Maxwelton Queensland and while one day he’d love to write a book about them, for now he’s happy to put his experiences and passion for the bush into his songs. The new album is pure country and has been described as a blend of an Australian George Strait meets John Williamson with a hint of Paul Kelly.

The jukebox in the remote outback family pub, helped Tony find his way to country music via all the latest country hits including Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler and the latest from Slim Dusty and Johnny Cash. Today Tony’s musical favourites include Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and Australian success-stories John Williamson, Graeme Connors, Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Brand and James Blundell.

When Tony isn’t performing across North Queensland, he is a part-time farrier and works on the small family farm. Over the years, Tony has been fortunate enough to share the stage with many Australian music heavy-weights including Adam Brand, James Blundell, Travis Collins, Wendy Matthews and Russell Morris.
