Jason Lee (with Tania Kernaghan)

Jason Lee 'Dust Beneath My Boots' Featuring Tania Kernaghan

‘Dust Beneath My Boots’, the new single from Jason Lee was co-written with Chicago-based songwriter Timothy Gleason; with more of the songwriter’s work featuring on Jason’s upcoming album. The track was recorded at Hillbilly Hut Studios with long-time producer Simon Johnson and production credits are shared by both Jason and Simon. Early into the recording process, Jason knew this song needed to be a duet and as fate would have it, Tania Kernaghan instantly agreed.

When asked about his new single, Jason reflects “When I first heard it, it reminded me of a time when I just wanted to run away from the world and feel some dirt and dust on the soles of my feet and feel at peace with no noise and fresh air. A few years ago, I suffered with my mental health and this is how I reconnected with the world. As a child I could never stay still or be in one place for too long and the city is so fast paced and when I’m out in the country or on the road I just feel at peace and relaxed. Being out in the open air and countryside is an amazing feeling of difference - emotionally, psychologically, and physically. It somehow just slows you down and allows you to breath. And that’s exactly where and what this track is about”.

The Golden Guitar nominated artist cites legends Merle Haggard, Slim Dusty and George Jones through to current country music kings Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Jason Aldean as his musical heroes. Enjoying his own success on the live music scene, Jason has performed at the Gympie Music Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, and opening shows for some of Australia’s much-loved artists including The McClymonts, Travis Collins and The Sunny Cowgirls.

The Academy Of Country Music graduate has been playing guitar since the age of 9, scored his first talent quest win at just 12 years old and released his self-titled debut EP in 2008. Subsequent single releases all found chart success including ‘A Memory’ remaining in the #1 spot on Hot Country Queensland for 3x weeks and Top 10 on the KIX Country Hottest 20; ‘Up A Creek’ - #1 on Hot country Queensland for 6x weeks, #6 on Country Songs Top 40 Australia Airplay Chart and Top 10 on KIX Country Hottest 20. ‘Dust Beneath My Boots’ is the 3rd single from the forthcoming album, following on from 2020 releases, ‘She’s In It’ in August and ‘Whiskey Kinda Night’ in November.

‘Dust Beneath My Boots’ will be available on all download/streaming platforms from April 9th, 2021.

SALLY-ANNE WHITTEN WINS BIG AT TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

(Left to right – Producer Alwyn Aurisch & Tamworth singer-songwriter Sally-Anne Whitten)

Tamworth singer-songwriter Sally-Anne Whitten has been recognised for her talents on her latest album “Burgundy Street” at the ICMAs – Indie Country Music Australia showcase and awards.

Sally-Anne was awarded Most Popular Female Artist and Most Popular Independent Album for 2018’s “Burgundy Street”. Producer/husband Alwyn Aurisch received the Most Popular Producer gong for the album of the same name, validating the term ‘keeping it in the family’! This follow’s Alwyn’s 2015 induction into the Country Music Hands Of Fame.

The award-winning album was inspired by a life-long dream visit to New Orleans in 2015. The album cover depicts the singer’s holiday digs – where she wrote some of the tracks and the place where she was inspired to cover Jon Cleary and Allen Toussaint songs.

The album boasts collaborations with Sally-Anne’s favourite singers, songwriters and musicians including James Craswell aka Jimmy Craz, Rae Moody, Allison Forbes and Mick Pealing of Australian country-rock band Stars.

A few days after receiving the awards, Sally-Anne has been able to share her thoughts, “I’m honoured to be recognised by peers and fans alike as an independent artist. It was a wonderful surprise and I’m delighted with these two awards. I made this album completely my own way by my own rules so it feels amazing to be recognised for following my own path. Thanks to the ICMA crew for helping recognise independent artists”.

The ICMA showcase and awards are held annually at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
