KRISTY JAMES ‘PUSH’
‘Push’ the new single from Kristy James is all about taking chances – whether it be life, work, or in this case love, the message of the song says sometimes we just need that extra help. Live, love and dream and remember sometimes it takes a little ‘push’.
“Sometimes we need a little convincing, wake up the heart and get it to listen”,
Kristy James – Push – March 2017
The paired music video was created by long-time visual collaborator Glenn Wilson of Polydivision and incorporates a part of Kristy’s background that she has kept quiet until now. Kristy reveals, “In another life I spent a lot of time dancing; from the moment I saw Dirty Dancing I knew I had to be able to do it”. However after having such a long break from dancing, it was a decision Kristy had pondered for the previous four film clips but decided against it. With ‘Push’ Kristy decided to share this side of her and it proved to be a real test of her skill, confidence and fitness. Deciding to share with her audience a part of what she calls her ‘past life’, has helped Kristy to take this video to a new level. The music video can be viewed HERE
(PLEASE NOTE THE VIDEO CLIP IS UNLISTED ON YOUTUBE TILL ITS PREMIERE AT 9PM WED NIGHT – WE WOULD APPRECIATE NO SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING UNTIL THEN)
Kristy has been singing & performing since she was a little girl, winning her first quest ‘The Junior Junior Vocal’ at Newcastle’s Steel City Country Music Club, by the time she was just 11 years old. Last year the singing teacher by day took her live shows around NSW and for the first time QLD. Whilst on holidays in Los Angeles she was a special guest of ‘Lunch With Dan Boul’ – the president of 65amps (handmade premium guitar amplifiers designed with professionals and enthusiasts in mind. 65amps are now the standard by which modern amps are now judged).
2016 also saw the release of two singles, ‘All Alone’ and ‘Friends Like You’ that both peaked at #2 on the iTunes Top Songs chart (thwarted only by Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood), being named a Top 5 finalist in the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards (country category) and music video ‘All Alone’ hitting the CMC Top 50 chart.
To cap off a stellar year, Kristy was announced as winner of the country section at the 2016 Australian Songwriters Association Awards – the country’s largest and longest running competition (over 30 years!). On the night Kristy was also awarded PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia) Best Live Performance Award, as voted by her peers. The country-rock performer is preparing for a first-time trip to Nashville for some long-planned writing for her 2nd EP due for release in August 2017.
