Golden Guitar-winner Warren H Williams is one of Australia’s most loved and highly decorated Aboriginal artists with a proud history of sharing his unique stories and culture through music to all Australians.
Williams has now collaborated with emerging artist Dani Young to write and produce a world-class album of very original and yet traditional-style country duets aptly named Desert Water (due for release in early 2016).
Williams and Young are debuting their new music at the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival on the 20th January with a live band and a string of Australia’s top artists as special guests.
Williams and Young bring an historic musical union to their sound and journey, being the first Black (Aboriginal) and White Australian duo to record an album in Nashville.
Produced by country music superstar Billy Yates, the album songs contain the universal themes of love and loss, family and friendship in a true country music sense and yet the music exemplifies the underlying spirit of cultural reconciliation synonymous to this pairing.
Listeners will be delighted by the rare and beautiful vocal harmony that has resulted from the blend of William’s unmistakably Aboriginal voice which embodies a distinctive and trademark huskiness along with Young’s honey tone and timeless lilt.
