‘Don’t Fall In Love’ new single from Adelaide based artist Ellen Tefanis was written by Brian Sickles, the same writer as ‘More Than A Hat’ – Ellen’s 2021 debut single. Originally titled ‘Don’t Fall In Love With No Cowboy’, it was written about Sickles’ step-daughter who was pursuing a cowboy on the rodeo circuit. Recorded at Forbes Street Studios, Sydney, with Nick Rowse, the mixing and recording engineer who has also worked with Keith Urban, Lady Gaga and Elton John.
Musicians on the track include Simon Johnson (Bass), Ted Nash (Banjo), Clare O’Meara (Piano / Fiddle), Arlo Sim (Backing Vocals), Leah Berry (Backing Vocals) and George Tefanis (Drums). The drummer used on ‘More Than a Hat’ was meant to feature on this track too but had to pull out due to working commitments. Luckily Ellen’s father, George was the original drummer on the demo and was flown into Sydney to provide the necessary percussion.
The 25-year-old is predominately known for her guitar skills and that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when she was invited to perform live by Keith Urban at his 2016 Brisbane show of the ‘Ripcord World Tour’. Ellen caught up with Australia’s best-known export before his most recent show in Adelaide, December 2022 while that performance inches closer to 8M views, to watch CLICK HERE
Since her debut release Ellen has completed a Master’s Degree In Education (studied during Covid lockdowns with no access to live performances) and was a finalist in two categories at the SAM Awards (South Australian Music Awards) in November 2022 (Country Artist and Regional Artist) for the song ‘More Than A Hat’. When Ellen isn’t working as a Secondary School Teacher, she is writing music for the first time, a couple of songs have already been written and will hopefully be released later this year.
Next month, the singer and guitarist will head to NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) in Anaheim, California where she’s been invited to attend by GHS strings (one of her many endorsements). She will also attend the She Rocks Awards in Los Angeles (showcasing women in music across all genres) and a planned first-time meeting in Nashville with current mentor bluegrass recording artist Kristy Cox – the two Australian artists connected via AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) with Kristy guiding Ellen through the industry both here in Australia and in Nashville. Ellen will also spend time networking and recording her brand-new original music while in Music City, USA.
‘Don’t Fall In Love’ to be released on Friday March 31st, 2023
