“Four Chord Song” Shara Rose

With her new single, Shara Rose has applied the four-chord song concept that many musicians adhere to. Seemingly, you only needing to know four chords to play many different melodies. And life outside a relationship that’s not right for you is like a four-chord song – simple and uncomplicated. Co-written with the song’s producer, Josh Shuberth, ‘Four Chord Song’ is for anyone who has been through a messy break-up, but you’ve come to a place where things are finally starting to become clearer and simpler.

Gonna get out of town, turn on the headlights

Four wheels in drive, it’ll be alright

Gonna turn up the radio so I can sing along

Without you tonight kinda feels like a four-chord song

‘Four Chord Song’ – Shara Rose, Josh Shuberth, 2023

When asked about the songwriting process, Shara Rose shared, “I wasn’t going to write a ‘break-up’ song, but I realised the power of music in a new way when I was going through my own heartbreak and having songs you can scream and cry to. The comforting feeling of singing lyrics that relate to your feelings was like therapy. So, I wanted to write my own. To anyone going through something similar, I invite you to get in your car, don’t look back, and sing along to this four-chord song”.

This track is the follow-up single to June 2023’s ‘Coming Home’ – which was featured on CMT, ABC Country Grassroots, ABC Saturday Night Country, Australian Country Radio, KIX Country (including KIX Live) and Good Morning Country. The Perth-born, now Sydney-based artist has also enjoyed touring extensively with Jason Owen and Tania Kernaghan on the ‘Let Your Love Flow Tour’. In between single releases, Shara Rose has been writing a batch of new tunes and working as a professional dancer – while music will always be her first love, she has danced since the age of 10 and has taught and performed professionally in assorted styles. Shara Rose is currently on the ‘Hits From Home Tour’ with Jason Owen:

  • Oct 6th – Dubbo Theatre
  • Oct 14th – Performance Arts Culture – Cessnock
  • Oct 20th – Club Mudgee
  • Oct 21st – Muswellbrook RSL Club
