HAYLEY MARSTEN RELEASES DEBUT EP “EVEN”

EVEN_EP_COVERBrisbane-based artist Hayley Marsten has released her debut EP “Even” with the help of one of Australian country music’s most famous families, The Chambers. Recorded with a full-band assembled by Bill Chambers, the EP was recorded in December 2014, at Foggy Mountain Studios, owned by son Nash Chambers.
After a chance meeting at the 2013 Boyne Valley Country Music Camp Out, Hayley jumped at the opportunity to record with the award-winning patriarch of the Chambers Clan. In the studio, the pair were instantly on the same musical wavelength and Hayley remembers the recording process was like working with an old friend. Hayley was humbled when Bill flew up to Gladstone, QLD to play in the band and also open the show for the home-town launch of “Even” – needless to say the event was sold out!

“Hayley came fully prepared with her songs already arranged and pretty much ready to go. Even though this was her first recording experience Hayley sang with conviction like she’d been doing it for years. I was also impressed with the way she guided the band, obviously knowing exactly what she wanted, yet with a casual attitude that made working with her a pleasure. Hayley Marsten – a professional artist on a mission, sure to succeed!” – Singer, song-writer, producer Bill Chambers

“Even” features upbeat crowd-pleasers and heartfelt ballads brought to life with country music’s chief instruments including dobro, banjo and steel guitar. All five tracks on the EP were written by the artist who wrote her first song at the ripe old age of seven and cites Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift as her musical influences.
‘Storm In A D Cup’, the EP’s lead single is a fiddle-driven, toe-tapper, tongue-in-cheek look into the artist’s life. When asked to describe herself in five words, Hayley quickly answers: writer, country, singer, guitar, baker – this honest, witty humour shines through on her debut EP.
While her parents are not musicians themselves they are definitely music lovers. Music was always playing in the Marsten family home and Hayley’s grandparents listened to a lot of country music – at the time young Hayley wasn’t a huge fan but now loves the older traditional country styles especially Loretta Lynn. Aside from singing and song-writing Hayley also lends her talents to playing guitar and banjo and new addition – mandolin, last week’s 21st birthday present.
