‘I’M READY’ NEW SINGLE FROM MICHELLE LITTLE COMING FRIDAY JANUARY 23RD
‘I’m Ready’, new single from Michelle Little is her first release in just over twelve months and written at a time when Michelle was still reeling from the death of her stepdad, Ron. It touches on the all-important concerns of what the loss means for her mum, Noni, Michelle’s own future and all the expectations that come from being the eldest daughter. The track declares, you’re ready for that massive life-change.
Written at the October 2024 SHE Songwriting Retreat in the NSW Blue Mountains, from a beautiful conversation with the retreat’s host and the song’s co-writer, Lyn Bowtell, ‘I’m Ready’, was created. As Michelle considered uprooting her life in Sydney’s Inner West to return to her family in Central West NSW, the song reflects the quiet ache for something more.
Michelle reflects on the songwriting experience, “Writing with Lyn is always an amazing experience. She is such an amazing musician, writer and singer that I genuinely admire. I wanted Lyn’s help to write something a little more modern sounding than what I normally write, and I was really pleased with what we created. Lyn and I have known each other since we were kids on the talent quest circuit, so it’s always great to catch up”.
Recording and production duties were once again entrusted to the award-winning Michael Carpenter, who also produced Michelle’s 2021 album “Invincible” and the 2025 single, ‘Time To Sing’. Michael also played all the instruments except for the pedal steel which was supplied by Jy-Perry Banks (Michael Carpenter & The Banks Brothers). With Michael’s guidance, Michelle also sang the backing vocals.
