“Nobody’s Gonna Make Me” the debut EP from Newcastle native Kristy James is the follow-up to her debut single, ‘Overdrive’ which was released in December 2012.
As with ‘Overdrive’, the five-track EP comprises works from Kristy’s own pen plus the EP’s title track and first radio single which is a co-write with APRA and ARIA award-winning songwriter Mike Carr (Melinda Schneider, Adam Brand and Graeme Connors). The EP is written from real life experiences and Kristy completely strips back and bears all in this intense, emotionally raw filled EP.
‘Nobody’s Gonna Make Me’, the radio single, was inspired from the recent success of debut single ‘Overdrive’. Kristy decided to write this song to send the message that at the end of the day it is her hard work and sheer determination that makes her who she is, not anybody else. A powerful song with a powerful message that says you are who you are thanks to some help along the way of course, but at the end of the day, nobody but you, makes you.
Once again Kristy has gathered a who’s Who of Australian country music to release her original works. In the producer’s chair again is Simon Johnson of Hillbilly Hut (Adam Harvey, Travis Collins, Buddy Goode), engineering by Jeff McCormack, mixed and mastered by Ted Howard at Rancom St Studios with photography and design by Glen Hannah (guitars too). Helping to bring the music to life are musicians Jedd Hughes, Luke Davis, Pete Drummond and Mick Albeck with backing vocals by Mike Carr, Marty Worrall and Chris E Thomas.
“I’m done listening to what you say, whatever I do I’m doing it my way, you don’t make me who I am, no-one’s gonna make me what I don’t wanna be”,
