“Meet Me At The Window” Talitha Jae

2024 is already shaping up to be a year of milestones for Far North Queensland singer-songwriter Talitha Jae. January saw her graduate from the CMAA Academy Of Country Music senior course, perform multiple shows at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and next week her new single will be released.

‘Meet Me At The Window’ was written in 2023 when Talitha took part in a 10-week challenge with I Heart Songwriting Club – a global songwriting community where each week a different theme is fused into the songwriting process. When asked about the track, Talitha shared, “That particular week the theme was window, and this is what I came out with. It’s about being stuck in my own bubble and sometimes I’m hesitant to put myself out there. I believe others likely face the same feelings, so sometimes meeting in the middle and getting a glimpse is a nice place to start.”

Talitha has always been involved in music, she started singing at church with her family before she reached double digits and later went on to perform at wedding receptions and parties with her Mum, also a singer-songwriter. Country music talent quests and competitions came during her senior years of high school, winning a few places in her first competition at the Sarina Country Music Festival, followed by Junior Overall at the Mackay Country Music Talent Quest. Talitha was also invited to both the QLD and North QLD Champion Of Champions. In 2013 Talitha made the move from her hometown Mackay to Cairns where she studied Social Work and finally made her return to music and songwriting in 2018.

That same year Talitha was a Top 10 finalist of the Listen Up Music Songwriting Prize, followed by a semi-finalist spot in 2020, and again in 2023. In 2019, she earned third place in the Folk/Acoustic category at the Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest, securing a spot in the top 30 in 2020, 2022 and 2023. Talitha was delighted when The Women In Music Mentorship Program paired her with Sara Storer – shared knowledge, tips and tricks for music and the industry plus the pair being reprimanded for taking too long to complete the sessions will never be forgotten!

Combining music and mental health has always been important to Talitha so when she spotted the Mental Health Foundation Australia call-out for the 2022 awards nominations, she had to enter. In turn, Talitha was invited to the awards ceremony at Parliament House Brisbane where her song ‘I’m Right Here’ (which appears on the 2018 Listen Up Music finalists’ album) was played and she was able to share her story and plans of a mental health album, book & tour. During the ceremony, Talitha was named QLD Mental Health Musician Of The Year.

New single, “Meet Me At The Window” is the follow-up to the 2021 debut EP ‘Spilt T’, and single, ‘I’m Done’ which topped the Amrap Regional Chart. Talitha has performed at a number of festivals around the country including Savannah In The Round, Tablelands Folk Festival, Cairns Festival and opened the show for Clare Bowditch, Bob Evans and The Wolfe Brothers.

‘Meet Me At The Window’ will be released on Friday March 15th
