“Take My Hand” Jacynta’lee
‘Take My Hand’ was the first song Jacynta’lee had written that she felt proud enough of to share with her audience. Written during the 2008 festive season, the track made its debut at the 2009 Tamworth Country Music Festival when her performance at the Capital Country Music Association National Talent Quest earned the Far North Queensland artist the Tamworth Regional Council’s Camerata Scholarship (pre CMAA Academy Of Country Music).
‘Take My Hand’ was recorded at Townsville’s Bounce Recording Studios with musicians Brendan Marolla (producer), Anthony Taylor and Daniel Marolla. Jacynta’lee has once again entrusted Jay Seeney of Blacklist Productions with creating the accompanying music video. The filming location of Australia’s country music capital was also the backdrop for Jacynta’lee’s debut film clip ‘Dream’, to watch CLICK HERE ‘Take My Hand’ music video coming soon.
When ‘Take My Hand’ was initially penned, it was mostly someone else’s story. The first and second verse were inspired by the singer-songwriter’s life, the relationship with her mum (vocal coach Karren) – needing her as a child, always reaching out for her in tough situations, be it physical or emotional. Jacynta’lee distinctly remembers, “Preparing myself for high school graduation and moving away to Uni and the associated feelings of leaving the nest, even though it was 2 years away when I composed, “Take My Hand”, it posed an element of anxiety surrounding my solid ‘home’ foundation.”
The song’s third verse was not her story but written for those who were struggling with the closure of a solid foundation or relationship. But today, this verse has become Jacynta’lee’s reality– not specifically the roles as described in the lyrics but the song hits even harder now, with her currently ill father.
