‘DRESSED TO KILL’, NEW SINGLE FROM TANYA SELF

'Dressed To Kill' is the latest radio single from Tanya Self

‘Dressed To Kill’ is the latest radio single from Tanya Self

‘Dressed To Kill’ the latest single from Tanya Self, the born and bred Queenslander, is a loud and proud, classic girl anthem. Co-written with Sarah Godden (Delta Goodrem, Anthony Callea, Vanessa Amorosi), ‘Dressed To Kill’ ignites a crowd with a strong, earthy and positive message – the relationship is done and dusted; take control of your destiny and move on.

“Happiness and love doesn’t fall at your feet.  You have to be truly open to the possibility of finding what you want.    Sometimes that means taking a deep breath, putting yourself out there, and going for it.  It’s a hard life lesson – but worth the risk,” smiles Tanya, who found herself in the same position after becoming divorced.  Happily remarried, she has just celebrated her eleven year wedding anniversary.

‘Dressed To Kill’ was ear-marked as “single potential” from its inception in name alone.  Early demos and crowd response soon confirmed its destiny and it grew into one of Tanya’s favourite songs to perform live.  When the time came to nut out what to include on her 2014 “Random Truths” album, Tanya says, “It earned big ticks for being relatable and easily striking a chord with listeners. But you never know until you head into the studio.  It was magical and so exciting to hear it morphing from a thumpy acoustic rendition into something with a great vibe over a cheeky and forthright message.  It made sense.”

‘Dressed to Kill’ is Track 1 on “Random Truths” album, released in May 2014.

“Random Truths” has had three consecutive Top Ten single successes on the Country Tracks Top 40 chart including ‘The Jacaranda’ – the 1st single’s momentous eight weeks in the #1 spot – all produced in Nashville by award-winning Australian, Mike Flanders and collaborated with Rob Mackay and Jason Millhouse for Pacific International Music, here in Australia.  Tanya has performed at some of Australia’s premiere music festivals including Gympie Music Muster, Urban Country, Blue Water Country Music Festival, Canberra Blues & Roots Festival, Whittlesea, and a long-awaited welcome return to the Tamworth Country Music Festival.  Poignant performances of ‘Listening In’, (the track that deals with the often-silenced topic of domestic violence) include the United Nations International Women’s Day Conference, Brisbane Queen Street Mall for White Ribbon Day and the Queensland Parliament House for White Ribbon pledge-taking ceremony.

NEW SINGLE: IAN BURNS – THE BOUNDARY RIDER

Ian Burns Cover

‘The Boundary Rider’ – is the 2nd single from the debut EP “Good Friends” by Ian Burns.

New single, ‘The Boundary Rider’, from Ian Burns is the second track to be released from his debut EP “Good Friends”. Released in January 2015, the EP was produced by popular artist and producer Doug Bruce, at his Shoo Fly Studios near Bendigo, Victoria.

All tracks feature the musicianship of Doug Bruce on drums, Mark D’Rozario on guitars, Rusty Cochrane on bass, Brendan Marolla on keys and David Spires on pedal steel.

‘The Boundary Rider’ is a self-penned tune with escaping our day to day, busy lives as the main message. After just one listen, there’s no doubt that Ian was wondering what it would be like to just ride off into the distance and leave this world behind… even for a short time. The listener is left pondering what would you miss and would you be missed?

The single has been given the video treatment by Paul Denham Imagery. Capturing stunning Australian landscapes while Ian rides stock horse ‘Maggie’ and is accompanied by a friend’s faithful companion ‘Boots’ – this is a must-see video clip: http://bit.ly/1IStsL2

Boundary Rider rides into the sunrise,

Turns his back on all that we desire,

The Boundary Rider he don’t want for nothing,

He’s got his horse, his dog and the glowing of the fire.

NEW MUSIC: GRETTA ZILLER – RUST & BONES

Rust & Bones - new single from Gretta Ziller is at radio now!

Rust & Bones – new single from Gretta Ziller is at radio now!

13 August 2015

New single, ‘Rust & Bones’ has already been a success for Gretta Ziller, gaining a place in the finals of the “Americana” category of both the 2014 Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition and the International Songwriting Competition. This track is the 4th single to be released from Gretta’s debut EP “Hell’s Half Acre” produced by Golden Guitar winning producer Matt Fell at Love Hz Studio, Sydney.

This latest single is serviced to radiotoday, Thursday August 13th and is available through Play MPE. ‘Rust & Bones’ – a murder ballad, is a tale of regret, “in a flash as quick as a gun” lives are changed and the ramifications and anguish that follow the narrator.

Gretta made a grand entrance at the 2011 Country Music Association Of Australia’s College of Country Music graduation concert playing the Bagpipes! Her party trick (and past profession) caused quite the noise and was an unusual introduction to the Australian country music family.  Since graduation Gretta has gone on to prove she’s not just a one trick pony by earning a place in the final of the 2013 Telstra Road To Discovery and the 2013 Tamworth Songwriters Association/APRA New Songwriter Of The Year. Most recently Gretta was a Toyota Star Maker Grand Finalist during the 2015 Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“With intuitive melodies and guitar picking that is second nature, Gretta Ziller merges truth, story and song, losing track of where one ends and the other begins. Creating music that truly is all about the journey” – Ben Sorensen, media personality and journalist

The EP’s previous singles ‘Hunt for Love’, ‘Hell’s Half Acre’ & ‘Some Kind of Habit’ have spent time on the Australian country music and video charts, with ‘Some Kind of Habit’ reaching #18 on the Country Music Channel Top 50 Countdown. Possessing vocals that range from sweet folk to gritty blues you could also describe the Melbourne-based artist as Alt. Country, Roots or Americana. Whether you hear influences from Steve Earle, Jim Lauderdale or more traditional country music Gretta is finding a multitude of welcoming arms for her blend of modern country.

HAYLEY MARSTEN RELEASES DEBUT EP “EVEN”

EVEN_EP_COVERBrisbane-based artist Hayley Marsten has released her debut EP “Even” with the help of one of Australian country music’s most famous families, The Chambers. Recorded with a full-band assembled by Bill Chambers, the EP was recorded in December 2014, at Foggy Mountain Studios, owned by son Nash Chambers.

After a chance meeting at the 2013 Boyne Valley Country Music Camp Out, Hayley jumped at the opportunity to record with the award-winning patriarch of the Chambers Clan. In the studio, the pair were instantly on the same musical wavelength and Hayley remembers the recording process was like working with an old friend. Hayley was humbled when Bill flew up to Gladstone, QLD to play in the band and also open the show for the home-town launch of “Even” – needless to say the event was sold out!

“Hayley came fully prepared with her songs already arranged and pretty much ready to go. Even though this was her first recording experience Hayley sang with conviction like she’d been doing it for years. I was also impressed with the way she guided the band, obviously knowing exactly what she wanted, yet with a casual attitude that made working with her a pleasure. Hayley Marsten – a professional artist on a mission, sure to succeed!” – Singer, song-writer, producer Bill Chambers

“Even” features upbeat crowd-pleasers and heartfelt ballads brought to life with country music’s chief instruments including dobro, banjo and steel guitar. All five tracks on the EP were written by the artist who wrote her first song at the ripe old age of seven and cites Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift as her musical influences.

‘Storm In A D Cup’, the EP’s lead single is a fiddle-driven, toe-tapper, tongue-in-cheek look into the artist’s life. When asked to describe herself in five words, Hayley quickly answers: writer, country, singer, guitar, baker – this honest, witty humour shines through on her debut EP.

While her parents are not musicians themselves they are definitely music lovers. Music was always playing in the Marsten family home and Hayley’s grandparents listened to a lot of country music – at the time young Hayley wasn’t a huge fan but now loves the older traditional country styles especially Loretta Lynn. Aside from singing and song-writing Hayley also lends her talents to playing guitar and banjo and new addition – mandolin, last week’s 21st birthday present.

INNOCENTEVE CELEBRATE ‘EVERY WOMAN’

IE_PROMO_PIC2‘Every Woman’ – new single from sisters Rachel and Rebecca aka INNOCENTEVE celebrates the title subject. Written by the Rockhampton sister-act and taking inspiration from three diverse women, each song verse portrays a different individual. The song is an observation about how each woman appears to the outside world, of having it all together or having the perfect life – but they all have their own battles and passions, needs and desires or dreams – and they want it all. The song questions that need, that want, is it wrong? Or is it right to reach for the stars?

“She wants to be every woman and to sail every sea, to be a mother, lover, daughter and a friend,

She wants to ride a magic carpet, taste every wine and just fly free,”

‘Every Woman’ – Rachel & Rebecca Olsson, 2014

For the accompanying video clip, INNOCENTEVE enlisted the help of female family and friends of various ages, races, shapes, sizes and religions. Ranging from toddlers to the girls’ 83-years-old Nan, each woman has a starring role in the brand new clip, check it out HERE

‘Every Woman’ is the 3rd single to be lifted from the sister-duo’s debut album “Temporary Balms”. The album’s title (also an album track) is about the vices or ‘temporary’ fixes we apply to certain situations even though we know they’re not best for us nor permanent solutions, like drinking away the pain. The album features 13 lucky tracks, with 10 coming from the duo’s collective pen and the three remaining tracks being re-workings of some much-loved songs. Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’, Tracy Chapman’s ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout A Revolution’ and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic ‘Proud Mary’ all receiving the INNOCENTEVE effect after being in the live set-list for years.

In support of this new single and video clip release, INNOCENTEVE is heading out on a regional QLD tour. The girls will perform in Longreach, Windorah, Blackwater, Rockhampton, Mackay and at the Big Red Bash – the two day music festival in the Simpson Desert, Birdsville as part of the Heels On Wheels show.

INNOCENT EVE NEWS – MAY 2015

Innocent_Eve_Promo1XSince the release of their debut album “Temporary Balms”, Rockhampton sister-act Innocent Eve have been celebrating success. Not only has local media shown a lot of love for the siblings who grew up on a cattle & grain property near Wowan, in Central Queensland but the album’s 2nd single, ‘Into The Light’ has been playing on radio stations right across Australia. The associated video clip has had more than 8000 views in just over six weeks and this week the single has entered the All Australian Top 20 across the KIX Radio Network. The video clip has also been added to the Country Music Channel’s request library & you can check it out here: http://on.fb.me/1Hi7bv5

The last few months have seen Rachel & Rebecca Olsson perform at The Tamworth Country Music Festival, Anzac Day commemorations in their hometown and they had reached the live auditions of The Voice Of Urban, at the now-cancelled 2015 Urban Country festival. This week they will play 13 shows across Beef Week, one of the world’s great cattle events that is held just once every three years in Rockhampton. During the week they’ve caught up with KIX Country, Radio 4RO and ABC Queensland’s Country Hour – they’ll be on tomorrow (Friday) at 12.45pm.

“Temporary Balms” was recorded last year at tommirock Studios in Newcastle, NSW by the ARIA-charting producer Joel Black. The album’s title is about the vices or ‘temporary’ fixes we apply to certain situations even though we know they’re not best for us nor permanent solutions, like drinking away the pain.

The debut offering features 13 lucky tracks with the first ten written by the duo’s collective pen and the three remaining tracks being re-workings of some much-loved songs. Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’, Tracy Chapman’s ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout A Revolution’ and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic ‘Proud Mary’ all receiving the Innocent Eve treatment after being in the live set-list for years. The album also showcases Rachel and Rebecca’s instrumental talents on piano and acoustic guitar respectively.

By day, the girls devote their time to supply teaching and have been singing together for as long as they can remember including performing in a number of bands for the past 10 years.  Singing and performing is in the Olsson family blood – both their parents and their siblings, another four round out the clan, sing and play various instruments. The Olssons have been entertaining the local district for generations and the girls look forward to the next big family jam session.

NICK PAYNE SOLO PROJECT UPDATE

Glenn Santry of Sydney’s Heartbeat Studio mixing Nick Payne’s upcoming debut solo album.

Glenn Santry of Sydney’s Heartbeat Studio mixing Nick Payne’s upcoming debut solo album.

Nick Payne, best known as the singer/songwriter/ guitarist of Sydney folk/bluegrass act Dear Orphans is currently in the studio, recording what will become his debut solo album. The as-yet-untitled release will feature 12 songs and be divided into two ‘sides’. Side A will be songs set in the present, produced with contemporary instrumentation and Side B songs will be set in the past but produced with traditional acoustic instrumentation. Co-writes with fellow country music artists Katie Brianna and Megan Cooper are already slated as part of the track listing. Production credits will go to Nick and Lyn Taylor (the other half of Dear Orphans) while the album will be mixed by Glenn Santry of Sydney’s Heartbeat Studio. Nick was introduced to Glenn by Karl Broadie, who incidentally produced the Dear Orphans self-titled debut album in 2009. Working on all Dear Orphans’ musical offerings since that introduction, Nick regards the audio engineer and his hybrid digital and analogue studio, as his secret weapon.

So far three tracks have been completed including the recently released single, ‘Old Sydney Town’ – an ode to the hardships of life in the colony of 1789 Sydney. FREE download HERE.

The most recently completed track, ‘Rising River’, is a cautionary tale about revenge. Tonight they’ll concentrate on mixing ‘Peace Tonight’, which is a song of salvation, death and longing to be re-united. Next steps are tracking the final two numbers of side B which will then be sent out as another FREE download.

From Nick: “The album project is going really well, I’m very happy with how things are going so far. I’m also really excited about the airplay that ‘Old Sydney Town’ has been getting and the really positive feedback that it’s receiving during interviews. It seems that folks really like that it was recorded live and can hear the energy that came out in the performance. Huge thanks to Australian radio for your support and I can’t wait to share ‘Rising River’ with you soon”.
